Before Apple… Before Google… Microsoft was the first to attempt to take tablets mainstream. They failed. But that was then and this is now. Following the trends set by Apple with the iPad and Google with their variety of Android OS tablets, most notably the Nexus series, Microsoft has got it right and done it in a big way.
The Microsoft Surface RT tablet has already sold out and is on back order. The only place you can purchase it is from Microsoft directly, either at their stores/popups or online at their website. There is no way to tell how many they had stocked before running out but it is clear there was a higher demand than many experts predicted. In a word, the Surface RT tablet is just cool.
Yes, we said it… Something from Microsoft is cool.
Featuring the new tile interface that has come along with Windows 8, Windows Phone and the X-Box 360, the interface on a tablet is quick and light. It’s simple and easy. One advantage it has over other tablets? Office. Microsoft has a limited version of the popular Office available for the RT system. Making this tablet great for everyday users as well as business users that need Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
That’s all great and whatnot but why cool?
Easy to answer. Just look at it. It features a tile system that is sleek. Perfect for a tablet. It has two keyboard options, which is up to you which feels better. One is more touch responsive and the other is lighter and all touch. It features a magnet system which while effective is also just fun to use. Click. Click. Click. Like the commercial says.
Yes, the tablet is changing many people’s minds about Microsoft and opening the door to more people possibly being open and responsive to a series of future of Microsoft Products. Including, a Pro version coming in January which is powerful and a laptop replacement in a tablet form.
